Three major food categories that exacerbate acne include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>High-glycemic carbohydrates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Milk and dairy products of certain types and quality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Polyunsaturated fatty acids from vegetable oils\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trans fats in combination with insufficient intake of omega-3 fatty acids.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deviation in sebum quantity (hyperseborrhea) and composition (dysseborrhea) promotes the overgrowth of the bacterium Propionibacterium acnes and biofilm formation, increasing the risk of acne. Diet plays a significant role in these deviations. A paleo-like diet enriched with vegetables [note: not all types] and fish supports nutritional therapy for acne vulgaris.
